CONSENSUS AD IDEM” (MEETING OF MINDS)

This is a conceptual piece, specifically painted and accepted for the “Nothing But The Truth” Exhibition www.nothingbuttruth.org/ . The charity “Lifelines” connects death row prisoners with willing penpals across the world, giving them friendship and an outlet to communicate and feel valued. The exhibition aims to explore the human bond of “equality, respect, friendship, sadness, forgiveness, love and many other feelings” that both penpals and prisoners’ experience through this process. In Emmannuelle Purdon’s (the organiser and acclaimed artist) own words, it is “an opportunity to send a special message of humanity and peace to the world”.

“Bouquet”

Bouquet

Part of the "Summer Cocktails" Series based around the "Wobbly World" concept of my other work. This series draws attention to ideologies of summer living; sun, sea, sand and something to drink. These paintings juxtapose the beauty, colour and atmosphere of the environment with the silhouette towers of glasses. This calls into question whether we displace the beauty of summer when we partake in a drink or indeed whether the simple pleasure adds to our ideology of summer. Each painting has been created to evoke different feelings and atmosphere, which are at the mercy of the viewer.
